Vintage Design
This decorative marriage bed fascia is crafted from beech and pine wood and dates back to circa 1850 in Jiangsu, or possibly Anhui. Intricate carvings in deep relief, inspired by Chinese mythology, fill the wood with fine detail. The carvings are a deep, dark brown, further highlighted by areas of gold, now largely worn to the base colour of the wood.
The main carvings are adorned with smaller floral carvings and intricate mortise and tenon joints create the interspersing patterns around them. The craftsmanship that went into producing this section of the original four poster marriage bed is remarkable. Utilise it today as a one-of-a-kind headboard or an impressive wall accent.
