Original Jan Bitter (Dutch, 20th Century) Seascape – Oil on Canvas

This impressive original oil on canvas has been attributed to Jan Bitter (Dutch, 20th century).

The seascape depicts a pair of figures sailing a keeled boat over dark green seas. Waves froth at the edge of the boat, as another boat is seen in the distance along a calm horizon under a vast sky filled with cumulus clouds.

The painting is signed in the lower lefthand corner, with a leaflet affixed to the back reading “Sea Scape by Jan Bitter; Loodsdrecht 1968. Holland.” This wonderful piece is surrounded by a green, brown, and gilt beveled frame.
